brand new just won't do.

Our baby birds hatched this week! They look like a pile of down and bones. There's really not much to them at all, and they can't even hold themselves up yet. Mama Finch is all the more anxious when she sees our silhouettes through the front door window.

Over the last two weeks we have been collecting the items we need desire for our new house via the method we trust the most...Craigslist. Yes, there are sketchy things and people to be encountered on Craigslist. There are also really great people and super great deals. It's amazing how life circumstances (primarily moving far away, downsizing, or redecorating) can prompt someone to sell something at such a reasonable price. Thanks to Craigslist we have now acquired a "big" bed for Josiah. It is lofted about 3.5 feet and has a slide off of it--definitely the coolest thing on the block when you are 3. The reason they were selling it? Their son wouldn't sleep in his own bed. We got a very lightly used high end refrigerator for a fraction of the price because the owner is now living in a home that was fully furnished. We also got a dining room table that is, in fact, the dining room table of dreams to me. The reason they were selling it? Moving back to Europe and no space to take it. We also got 6 chairs to go around it. We got a cool retro sitting chair to help fill out some of our space, and believe it or not we are still looking for a few more items. All of this acquiring has come at the expense of my parents' garage...at least for a couple more weeks. Needless to say...though we have coughed over more cash than anyone (in our tax bracket??) likes to in such a short period of time, we have gotten furniture that it should have taken us years to be able to afford in a matter of only a couple weeks thanks to Craigslist. Deal making is in my genes and brand new just won't do around this place.
