Christmas. I am so proud to finally get around to this one.
I was very fortunate this was my year off on Christmas. We went to the Christmas Eve service at our church and then we went out to my mom's house for the evening. We had a family movie night and watched "The Nativity Story" together. It was really good to spend time together as a family reflecting on the journey leading up to the birth of Christ. We plan to make this one a tradition.

We woke up at 9am on Christmas Day. What a wonderful feeling. Last year Josiah had us bleary-eyed at 6:30am. I was very proud of Josiah this year. He was excited about the presents, but he had no problem waiting through breakfast and a few other tasks before we got around to the presents. He didn't really ask about Santa, and he didn't seem to mind that nothing was noted to be from him. He had a really good time discovering the Mack truck he has really wanted and a Woody doll from his grandparents to go with his Buzz from Toy Story.
Evangeline had a thrilling time unwrapping her gifts, except not really. She just enjoyed being with everyone. We gave her very practical gifts and left the toys up to everyone else. Good thing because now I have more beeping, lighting, singing toys than fingers on my hands. Please, lets call a truce before her first birthday. |

Overall it was a very low key time together with family. We didn't get out of pajamas until close to dinner. My mother made a wonderful Christmas dinner with all of our favorites. My in-laws came over and enjoyed the afternoon and dinner with us, and later my mom's extended family came by to visit.

The day after Christmas we drove to North Georgia to be with Jonathan's mom's extended family. This is a tradition every year. 20-something cousins packed in for a Christmas dinner, presents, a birthday song for Jesus, and lots of fun. There were two new additions to the family this year. It seems we have added at least that many every year since I joined in the crowd. Marriages and babies abound. This year it was two babies. I highly doubt it will slow down any time soon! We love spending time with all them. Josiah has a special bond with his cousin John David who is only 6 weeks older than him. They were great buddies all week.

We really enjoyed celebrating the coming of our King with two beautiful, wonderful sides of our family.
