Catch me if you can.

Now that I have a quite proficient walker I have found myself struggling to sit down...ever. That in combination with our extremely busy schedule as of late is very incompatible with blogging. This is my (yet another) attempt to catch back up.

Josiah is walking around everywhere, and he has even started to run. His run is more like a speedy swagger, but he squeals as he toddles off, trying to escape as I holler, "Where are you going?!" He LOVES taking baths. Tonight he stayed in the bath for nearly an hour before we ended up forcing him to get out. He discovered how to slurp his bath water. We burst out laughing the first time he did it, and he proceeded to do it over and over until bath time was over.

We spent the weekend at a cabin in North Georgia with some close friends. Jonathan and I arrived a day early and were excited to start our vacation...until we realized that Josiah was magnetized to everything he shouldn't touch. We ended up chasing him around, pulling him off of the flat screen tv, the fireplace, the glass tabletop, the various small decor items, the pantry, the cleaning supplies under the sink, and the on/off buttons to the entertainment system--all within the first thirty minutes of arrival. We looked at each other in exhaustion as we realized the power of baby-proofing. We obviously didn't start a fire until after he went to bed. We moved most of the items, covered the entertainment center with a spare faux bear skin, and managed to enjoy the rest of the weekend.

That seems to be the theme of our lives as of late. He is everywhere he shouldn't be and touching everything he shouldn't touch. He really enjoys toting Jonathan's flat iron around the house. I'm not sure why. He also likes his "credit card," which is an old insurance card we had around. He gets frustrated when he drops it on the wood floor because he can't manage to pick it back up. He enjoys playing with the plethora of toys he got for his birthday though he hasn't quite figured out how to play appropriately with all of them. His favorite currently is the one that has holes to drop balls through. He is also into holding his Elmo play cell phone up to his ear as if he is talking on it. One thing he is really good about is dragging all of the toys out all over my house...and there are so many of them.

He is mimicking the tones he hears when we say simple things, such as "thank you." His comes across as "muhh moo," but he can match the sing-song in our voices, which seems good enough for him.

Today our neighbor rang our doorbell to ask if a loose puppy belonged to us. Of course the dog did not belong to us, but she ran up to me and licked me like I was her long lost friend. Josiah heard the door open and came to see what was going on, and upon setting his sights on the puppy he exclaimed "dIg, Dig!" He reached out for the puppy and it seemed it was love at first sight. The two loved on each other for a minute before the neighbor resolved to continue looking for the owner. Jonathan picked Josiah up and stepped back inside, which resulted in a complete meltdown. The neighbor tried to get the puppy to leave, but the puppy put on her brakes and tried to stay. After quite a protest our neighbor had to carry the pup off the porch, and as she tromped back into her yard the puppy looked longingly back toward our house. It was as if we were separating two long lost lovers in a Hollywood film. It was obvious the puppy was well-cared for, but even if she wasn't there was no way we could have kept her...she was a beautiful, full-bred pit bull. As sweet as she was, there is no way we could have justified that to the common world. Perhaps she will come visit her little lover again sometime.

Bedtime--I must go. Life is fun and exhausting and moving far too quickly.
