Jet-setting.

Storyline #2: Jet-setting.

Jonathan had a conference in Washington, D.C. the second week of April.  We had discussed a mini couple getaway the following weekend, but when the childcare didn't work we decided to change gears and bring the kids with us.  I made the journey via airplane to meet up with Jonathan.  I believe my carry-ons included 2 children, 2 carry-ons, 1 backpack, 1 purse, 1 stroller, and 1 car seat.  Somehow we all made it through the airport and onto the airplane with relative ease.  It was an answer to prayer, really.  All three of us arrived safely to meet Jonathan in Washington, D.C.  Jonathan had taken our bikes up there and when he realized the convenience of bikes in the city, he hopped on Craigslist and found a bike trailer for us to pick up.  We swung over to pick up the bike trailer and then set our sights on the national mall.  We spent the day seeing the sights of the city...well, a lot of them.  We went to most of the memorials, the national aquarium, and the Air & Space museum.  We were so grateful for the bikes, as they allowed us to travel around the mall much faster than our feet.  We credit them with our ability to see so much in such a short amount of time.

After our very long day we drove as far as Philadelphia before crashing for the night.  The following morning it was off to NYC for a weekend of fun with our dear friends the Browns.
