Adoption update

We had our first of three meetings with our adoption specialist on Monday. I think it went very well. She listened to us talk about our goals for parenting through adoption, our families' reactions to the idea, and our goals for our family. She also explained remaining details and rough time lines. We will meet with her again once our FBI background checks return, twice within a week. Then, she will begin to write up our final approval and we will be available as a family for expecting parents to review. We finally had our FBI fingerprints done on Thursday. Apparently, the results take 8-10 weeks to return. We wrote a brief cover letter and labeled the envelope "ADOPTION" with hopes that someone at the good ole' FBI will have compassion on us. Realistically, we are just hoping for the 8 week turn around. That would roughly make us positioned for final "approval" by mid-July. After that...we wait for the indefinite amount of time that separates us from our new baby. As previously stated, we would feel incredibly fortunate to bring our baby home in 2010. Only the Lord knows when our new little love will arrive, though. You can join us in praying for favor with the FBI as they respond *efficiently* with our background checks; for strength, courage, and any needs of our baby's birthmother who could very realistically already be seeing her body take shape with our baby; and of course for our baby him or herself!
